criticism

the introduction is kinda slow for a four-minute-long track. depending on your entire song's length i would say that determines how progressive it needs to be. it took me until 1:40 to start enjoying it, because that's a really appealing synth. maybe it could use some chorus filtering or reverb?

drums definitely need improvement, though. i'm not really a fan of your snare sound since it's so stuffy and plain, but the clap is clean. add some crashes and open hats or different percs.

and your transitions are just "one section, another section, etc." like. it gets very boring quick. listen to most of deadmau5's work how he has fade-ins and reverb decay changes.

ooh, baby!

love that sample :)

METOO lol

nice transitions

sounds professional as fuck! get some new snares, though, dude :)

SteakJohnson responds:

THEM SNARES SURE DO SOUND OFF... thanks tho lol i will

catchy

nice to hear some funky house around here. your melodies are always so catchy, dude.don't know about whatever sub-genre you're going for so i'm unsure how much criticism i can give, but it sounds pleasant overall.

love the guitar, and that bass-ish noise. this is really something different. i also enjoy your progression since most of your track is just introducing new elements, but also some minor melodies.

transitions are flawless, by the way. wish this was a bit longer, though :)

durn responds:

Aye, I probably could've extended the track a bit with all the new elements I added near the end. Thanks for all the kudos as I'm not really sure what sub-genre I'm going for either. :D

so nasty

you've got that neuro shit down, dude :)

sick

really liking that bass, dude. could use some background atmosphere, though. :)

Namegoeshere responds:

Thanks Flared, I could work something out for it then.

serious liquid

definitely worth a 5/5 vote and a 10/10 rating. it's rare to find some professional sounding work on newgrounds, since everything in the drum and bass category appears to be cheap breaktrance.

i love those ambient vibes - that smooth pad, that flute-like melody, all the minimal background elements. it all blends fairly well. drums are heavy, but clean. and your frequency automation on them a the introduction is brilliant. you have some really fluent progression.

new favorite artist ;)

wow

not really a true fan of the amen, but this has some great progression and smooth vibes ;)

sick

sounds like the qemists ;)

haha

i'm a drum and bass guy myself, but this is intense shit. my house is horrible compared to this ):

ShootingStar responds:

Haha I like drum and bass :) lol might have to check out your work!
Glad you liked it!
