nice beat

the vocals are too loud, though. the volume should be lowered so it's almost enough to hear them in the background. the filters you have on it would automatically make it blend in better if you choose to do that.

remove the reverb on your bass, though. that should be your main focus in building a dubstep song, so it should be the clearest noise you hear. if everything sounds like rain and blends too much, you don't get a powerful feel to your track. dubstep needs that feel.

good work

bryce responds:

its not really dubstep those are hip hop drums so i can put all the fucken reverb i want bud

wow

i haven't heard a track like this from you in a while. great breaks, melody, everything just generally flows.

i dislike your trance elements though :(

Rawrthaas responds:

ah well, can't please everyone :) i think my style is culminating towards a nu-breakbeat hardcore style. look up cube hard's micro n2, entity - stargazer (reese remix).. just a couple examples of this relatively new subgenre that's a blend between DNB and freeform hardcore.

hip hop?

this is like modern hip hop mixed with dance. i don't see how it can be classified as drum and bass at all, though.

regardless, still pretty good. i like the choir and piano melody

criticism

in general, it's a bit plain; it lacks a lot of dnb elements. i hear your drums, but that's nearly it, and the flutes don't change much, either. they could also use some serious eq'ing possibly. use some frequency automation in the beginning at least to make your drop more powerful. it covers up what you already have, which is a static melody, and makes it seem completely different. background noises with high reverb and low volume could also work.

and you should never make default sounds noticeable. i hear two breaks that already come with fl studio. make your own drum sounds by blending and compressing your snares, hats, and kicks. also work with different pitches.

hope this helps.

huge

wow, bombed already? it's truly sad how people don't make an effort to even listen before they select their vote at times. i was unsure how it would build up, but i was pleased immediately when i heard your neuro bass fade in.

my only complaint would be how repetitive it is. even though you have that transition with a milder reese, nothing major was changed. use some hat change-ups or different snares, man. that's the shit people love.

honestly, impressive stuff. hopefully the full version is a ton better.

v150r responds:

yea, im still working on it. altough the repetativity is an average problem in my tracks, but i put my best into this tune. i got a lot of feedbacks, two of my friends thinked its a mixcut (and not made by me)...
...i think, i dont need a better review of this track. :D
so, i think finally i reached "that" sound, what im looking for over the years, and i need to put my best efforts to make it better.

no complaints

i normally give an insane amount of criticism, but i'm just reviewing for the sake of it since this is so good. i can't believe this has only review besides me, actually. this is real dubstep for once haha

could be so much better

this could be so much better than it already is. your synth has such a good melody, but your bass has such a plain noise. it really contradicts to everything else. i would suggest stretching it out a bit, making it smoother and adding some low-rate lfo on it

whenever your drop is supposed to be, i suggest using rides or open hats to accent the amen break. it would sound so much better with it, i promise. maybe adding some incredibly low overdrive on those drums could be good as well.

try to remove all that reverb, as well. if you add some background noises, then put reverb on it. your synth especially doesn't need it, and the volume should be a lot higher since it's so important

violent content haha

Melophobik responds:

Thanks man! Especially for all your tips n' what-not.

It's feels like it's been forever since I made this song... My computer broke down a couple days after I finished it, so no revisions could, or have been made.
If I ever do get my computer fixed I will turn this song into something awesome :D
I've learned a few new tricks and I could really fix it up with some tinkering.

smooth

wow it's surprising how most of the drum and bass at this audio portal is horrible, yet dubstep artists seem to be very professional when it comes to atmosphere and catchy melodies

i personally think that youre bass flows with your background melodies in a very good way. this can't get any better. great work

dance?

i'm not even sure what genre this is. i won't give dnb-related criticism because of that, but i would definitely suggest moving this to trance, techno, or dance. it doesn't belong here, man

landscapers1 responds:

so wrong genre deserves a 6. hahaha...

more techno

the majority of this remix is just the original requiem melody. your part comes it very close to the end. the drums are a bit random at that. i would understand it's hard to get them going with the original track, but there aren't any real breaks. at least your added melody flows with it, like it should

could be a lot better, man

steelside responds:

This song sucks :( Revelations is better
