clean

don't know much about hip hop at all, but this has such a clean feel to it. it's like this beat could go well with almost anything

wow

compelling

although this is mostly an all-drum song with some minor background atmosphere, it's decent for just that. all your distortion and effects on those drums really get at you. such an monstrous and evil track

if you add a really grimy reese, it could sound similar to clear blue water by current value. maybe place a really sharp synth lead in there too; it could sound so clean. a track completely containing just drums can be incredibly unappealing to some people.

once again, nice work

superb

7 minutes is a long track. i can barely get four minutes without my tracks sounding too repetitive. you have a lot of smooth transitioning that easily makes up for a lack of variation in your bass section. the atmosphere is superlative.

drums in your introduction are a bit plain, however. add some overdrive or compression and make the volume louder. because they're so dull, it just seeps into the background more than it should. the snares sound a ton better after the drop.

the bass is also really deep. it's dynamic and neuro-like; it could use some pitch changes and more distorted sections to change it up a bit, though. that smooth sub feel is inconceivable.

incredible work, man.

oddfellowfloyd responds:

Wow man, thank you!

Yeah, post-production listens had me thinking that the intro drums could use a tad more volume, but they're the beat-matching section before the drop... I could also lower that synth, and that snare roll a tiny bit, because that's where that bassline bends/glides up with a filter and sounds gnarly... XD

I'm glad you liked this, man. Yeah, I know my tracks are lengthy, but I spin them out at parties, and they need to be of considerable/appropriate length for mixing. :P

distinctive

i always thought you were a popular artist. you have 204 listens and 22 downloads on this track, yet no one bothered to review it. isn't that sad? people should be more supportive

right from the beginning, i was sucked in by the opaque atmosphere. it feels like something directly out of a movie scene. those strings are very esoteric. my complaint would be how quickly your drums fade in (entering withing the first 10 seconds). if you hold off for about 25 seconds with a dynamic atmosphere, then letting the drums appear without automation, it will keep that brewing feeling consistent.

most of the track is the same stuff. there's a lot of diversity, but it's merely all minor changes to the beat. the amen section is a nice touch, although you need to incorporate more elements (melodies, instruments). you have an excellent basic track structure that should be taken advantage of with cleaner transitions and more technicality.

hope this helps, xerochi.

I love great reviews like this:)

trancey

from the beginning until 0:45, you have a highly alluring introduction. the two main melodies and the muffled bass blend very well with each other. the way your cut amen break comes in isn't so smooth, though. i say keep the amen consistent and use some low pass automation on it. the fact of using that specific break contradicts from the gentle minimal trance-like elements a bit since it's so sharp.

i like the phaser/flanger effect on the drums before your drop. it's original, stylish, and sounds incredibly satisfying. the other break heard occasionally adds a diminutive extent of variation to the beat, but there isn't a lot besides that. i'd love to hear a savage neuro bass with heavy modulation and pitch changes. any wavy dynamic reese could easily make the main section more appealing and you'd have more freedom to incorporate other diverse melodies with it.

i would suggest using a more minimal break for eight bars and then switching back to the amen periodically. to be honest, this track has a ton of potential in having a full six minute version. you just need more assortment and variance.

good work

eatmeatleet responds:

Yea I understand what you say. Song structure has always been the hardest thing for me

tips

when your drop hits, use hats with more volume to accent the beat. you can barely hear them at all. a dynamic sub-bass could also fit in really well

good so far. love the melody

hmm

make your bass smoother with some fine adjustments. it's just somewhat plain. other than that, it's actually a pretty solid 1:29 track

Father-of-Death responds:

I suck at making a reese. so yeah.... i need a lot of practice.

heavy

you have an excellent build-up. this is probably the only track i've heard that has a "theme" to it, as well - that being it actually feels like a battle

i love the smooth ambience and that snare roll. everything just blends and flows so well. and when some of that neuro taste comes it, it's just overall mind-blowing.

you got a really heavy track coming, i can tell

landscapers1 responds:

yes, all things happen at 1:16
Thanks :D
