nice work

fucking technical, bro. those are some damn complex drums haha

good work

newgrounds doesn't offer much experimental shit like this anymore

fairy

actually, pretty good track. you don't find much abstract and experimental stuff here.

Outstanding

Yeah, the whole song completely outstanding. The introduction sucked me in, so I decided to listen to the whole thing. This is some seriously nice work since not only does it have an atmospheric feel to it, but it's danceable and orginal. I suggest maybe working on that drum build-up a bit more, since it doesn't seem to be all that powerful. Also, at the beginning, I hear faint cracks when I listen to the sub-bass with my headphones.

SREvol responds:

thanks for the great review, i'll revist the drum break at the beggining and maybe add a more electro kick into the main break to make it a bit harder. i'll probably gie it another 5 bpm cause its a tad slow for stepping. the cracks could be from the reduced quality of the song because it was very big and i had to pull it in.

i might also run it through the new cubase when i get it and hightn the vocals to give it a tad more epic feel :)

Lacks a Lot

It's nice to hear someone who can do breaktrance other than Paragon, so I'll give you an extra star for that. However, this song lacks a lot. I know it's just "two synthesizers," but you could have added a lot more. There really needed to be a buildup and some other instruments. Maybe if the frequency automation at the beginning was longer and there were a few more sounds, it would be better.

Grandvision responds:

Hey, listen to the song again, I edited it a bit. I think it's better now. Ain't it?

I know what you mean, and thank you for mentioning Paragon, he is a great music creator.

Compression

The one thing that I always use in my songs is the Fruity Compressor. You need to use that especially for a bass because it can easily overpower the other sounds.

I think that you just need to use the Fruity Parametric EQ and remove some of the actually bass, so it doesn't sound so solid, and more distortion can be heard. You definitely want a looser bass, and that can easily be done by also using the Fruity Chorus.

Very Stylish for a Dance Song

Most dance songs on NG are not nearly as stylish as this... I really disagree with what Vibestyler wrote, because it's probably just his own speakers that are rubbish. My speakers aren't that great, and I can hear everything perfectly.

You really seem to know how to make a powerful bass, creative arp (I mean the "wee" type of sound, which sounds like an arp), and a simple, but affective beat. I just thing that some sections of the song lack a lot...

VULC4N responds:

very morale boosting compared to the previous review lol.

again...this is me just messing around; no serious effort, at all, was put into this. i wudve eqd it had i more time.

thanks for reviewing! cheers.

Drumfunk

I appreciate someone who actually does drumfunk on NG. I like hearing different versions of drum and bass. I was hoping for something other than a simple chopped Amen, but I think the piano and the guitar are very nice. It would lead more people to think this is a "drum and bass" song if you actually had a sub-bass or something.

Scribbler responds:

Drumfunk eh? Never heard of it. It's not really drum and bass per se but NG doesn't have many choices so in DnB it goes. Thanks for the review!

Needs Work

This needs some work. It definitely fits in the industrial section, but for an actual song, it's not that good. The glitching actually gets annoying. I would suggest adding drums to keep a steady beat while you change up the glitching and set it to different instruments. At least there is a guitar.

Not Sad

I'm not trying to ruin your streak of great reviews, but I really feel this isn't a sad song at all. It's just simply like that. You claimed that this was supposed to be sad since it is a "memorial", yet I don't see how in anyway it is. I would imagine a sad song to have a piano or something and maybe start out slower. The strong bass you used in this doesn't really fit, in my opinion.

Work on compressing your bass some more. The bass also could probably use some distortion to make it sound more interesting. Also, try to use the Parametric EQ to change the way things sound. The pad at the beginning is just in its default state, and you could do so much more to make it sound better.

Lucovic responds:

First of all, I totally agree with what you said.

if u dont think it sounds sad, its ok with me. it sounds sad in my opinion and if u dont think so. its ok with me. second. the bass was intended to be simple but hard. im not THAT skilled with FL studio right now. so i might listen to your advice and modify my songs a little bit. the pads are indeed standard, only pitched. it is not modified due to the same reason as the bassline.

Still thanks for the advice u gave me. it'll help me alot in the future =D
